The impact of Information Systems on the Activating of Strategic Environmental Analysis Process in SMEs

A Case Study of Some SMEs in the Wilaya of Sétif

Abstract

This study aims at knowing the impact of Information Systems (IS) on the activating of strategic environmental analysis process in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). These systems could have been used as a tool to obtain required information from different internal and external sources, enabling the managers to diagnose internal strengths and weaknesses of the business and to know the opportunities and threats in its external environment. For that, we have conducted an empirical study on some SMEs in the Wilaya of Sétif. The results have shown that these enterprises are using computerized IS that consist of the key technological and human resources. The results have also shown that there is a statistically significant effect of IS used in studied enterprises on the activating of strategic analysis process of their internal and external environment.
