Historical and Legal Foundations of Occupational Health and Safety System Internationally and Locally in Algeria
Abstract
This research paper aims to address the historical and legal development of the occupational health and safety system at the international level, including the laws, protocols, and procedures that have been established during different periods of study. It also examines the laws
and decrees enacted by the Algerian government since independence to the present day. According to the study's findings, history's early periods were defined by simplicity and a lack of precise and severe regulations and processes. This idea developed over time for employers, and as technology advanced, so did its cost, as evidenced in the recent International Standard ISO 45001. Additionally, contributions from Islamic law in this field are reflected in Quranic verses and prophetic traditions that emphasize the preservation of life and beyond
