Uses of Benchmarking in Evaluating Competitive Performance of Insurance Companies in Algeria

Abstract

Thisstudyaims to determine the insurancecompanies' use of benchmarking in evaluating competitive performance by measuring the relative efficiency of insurance companies in the Algerian market for the period 2010-2020. The study relied on the descriptive approach in narrating the theoretical framework and on the analytical approach in the practical aspect. Data were collected through the archives of the companies under study and were processed using the Data Envelope Analysis method (DEA). The study concluded that two private companies (ALLIANCE and SALAMA) achieved a complete degree of technical and scale efficiency, according to (CCR-O) model; three public companies (SAA, CAAT, CNMA)achieved the pure technical efficiency, but they have a scale inefficiencyaccording to (BCC-O) model and six companies ( CAAR, CASH, TRUST, CIAR, GAM, AA) have technical and scale inefficiency according to both models
