The role of social responsibility in improving medical waste management- A case study of health institutions in Algeria
Abstract
This study aims to highlight the role of social responsibility of health institutions towards workers, patients, society and environment and its contribution in improving the management and treatment of medical waste to reduce risks and negative repercussions on human and environment. This study showed the theoretical dimensions of the variables and adopted the analysis of questionnaire data for a sample of employees involved in the management and treatment of medical waste working in health institutions in Algeria, Descriptive statistics and inference tools were used to measure the degree of correlation between study variables and test hypotheses at a 0.05 significance level. This study concluded that the management and treatment of medical waste in the institutions sample still suffers from a lack of means, techniques and behaviors according to international standards. There is a positive correlation between the commitment of health institutions to social responsibility in their various fields and medical waste, which facilitates the improvement of their management and treatment.
