Abstract

The aim of the current study is to construct and compute the psychometric properties of a cognitive immersion scale applicable to the youth demographic. A sample of young university students (50 students) was selected, and our study is survey-based, grounded on the hypothesis that the designed cognitive immersion scale can reveal behavioral aspects of screen-based cognitive immersion through university students' use of social media (Facebook as a model). The following results were obtained: after statistical analysis aimed at calculating the psychometric properties of the developed tool, it was found to be valid and reliable, thereby confirming the validity of the study's hypothesis and the questionnaire's suitability for detecting cognitive immersion
