Young Algerian Teenager and Language: Problematic identity search (Crisis of alienation or approaching?) An exploratory field study on a sample of youth in Sidi Bel Abbes
Abstract
We aim through this field study to clarify the relationship between teenagers and language identity, starting from the basic idea that the first stage of building social identity is the stage of building oneself. Especially as adolescence is a critical stage in this construction process. Therefore, we raised the problem according to a questionable perspective : if adolescence is a psychological, social and cultural phenomenon that is generally linked to the concept of crisis, is the relationship of the teenager to language identity is really a crisis ? How do we call the adolescent’s relationship with language and identity, Is it a relationship of alienation or approach? Especially since the concept of crisis is their common denominator. According to the above, we will follow in this article the representations of young adolescents of the language of daily communication and representations of the Arabic language, in order to clarify the implications of his globalized world on the formation of linguistic identity. To achieve this, we used ‘The association Networck’ and ‘’Focus groupe ‘on a sample of thirty (30) teenagers between the ages of 12 and 18 from the city of Sidi Bel Abbes.
