Abstract

The current study aimed to explore the nature of compensatory health beliefs among a sample of adolescents with diabetes according to some demographic variables, in the city of Ouargla. The study focused on exploring the differences according to gender, educational level, and years of diagnoses with diabetes. In order to achieve the objectives of this study, the compensatory health beliefs scale(knauper & amp; ass. scale) was used. The knauper scale has the psychometric properties that must be available in the psychological scale represented in credibility, stability .We applied it to a sample of (38) adolescents with diabetes who were selected intentionally at the diabetes centre, Ouargla city hospital and some private clinics. After processing the data statistically, the results of the study concluded that the adolescents with diabetes in the study sample held positive compensatory health beliefs. The results also showed:

- Statistically there are significant differences in the average compensatory health beliefs due to the gender variable in favor of the higher average in females.

- Statistically there are no significant differences in the nature of compensatory health beliefs due to the educational level variable.

- Statistically there are significant differences between the average compensatory health beliefs due to the variable years of diagnostic (with diabetes
