The reality of breastfeeding in Algeria according to the National Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey year 2019(MICS 6)
Abstract
Breastfeeding is the main and only source of healthy nutrition for the newborn, as breast milk is one of the important sources of energy for children between the ages of 0 and 24 months. UNICEF and the World Health Organization have recommended that children be exclusively breastfed during the first six months of their life, starting this breastfeeding is during the first hour after birth, because exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months enhances the child’s sensory and cognitive development and provides him with strong immunity against infectious and chronic diseases.It also recommended not cutting breast milk from children after this age, even with the introduction of complementary feeding.
This document aims to reveal the reality of breastfeeding in Algeria, trying to find out the most important demographic and socioeconomic indicators affecting this reality, by proposing the following forms: What is the reality of breastfeeding in Algeria and what are the most important indicators affecting this reality?, This study relied on data The major national permissible, with a special focus on the National Multi-Indicator Cluster Survey for the year 2019. The descriptive analytical approach is used to describe the survey database data available in the SPSS program, with some statistical tests conducted in order to test the validity of the research hypotheses.
