The reality of family planning in Algeria according to the National Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey year 2019 (MICS-6)

Abstract

Family planning has witnessed great interest in many regions of the world, given its great importance in securing women’s well-being and independence and in supporting the health and development of societies, as it reduces the risks facing women due to improper pregnancy, as it exposes early pregnancy to the risks of health problems and the risks of death, as it avoids women It reduces the risks of unsafe abortions for unwanted pregnancies, reduces infant mortality resulting from close pregnancies, reduces pregnancy rates for young women that cause incomplete fetal development and neonatal death, raises the level of women’s education to make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health and their contribution to public life, and reduces the number of infants People living with AIDS and the number of orphans to reduce unwanted pregnancies among women living with HIV. In general, it is considered a basis for curbing the accelerating population growth in order to avoid negative effects on economic, social and environmental development at the local and international levels.

This research paper aims to shed light on the reality of family planning in Algeria, by revealing the most important relevant indicators, and the influencing socio-demographic factors, thus answering the following question: What is the reality of family planning in Algeria and what are the most important socio-demographic factors affecting it? Relying on the 2019 National Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey database and the results of the completed national household-related surveys, employing the descriptive analytical approach, and using appropriate statistical methods to describe and analyze the data and test and discuss hypotheses.
