Evaluation de la méthode globale dans l’enseignement de la lecture en langue française. Etude de cas : Apprenants de 3ème année primaire de l’école Mahfoudi Miloud, wilaya de Constantine
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the sight method in teaching french language reading to learners of 3rd year primary class in order to confirm or refute their effectiveness and better identify and understand the difficulties young learners face and try to finally explain the decline in the level of reading in recent years. We conducted a pre-survey of an intentional sample of (40) learners and applied two tests: fluence test to measure the speed and accuracy of the decoding and the comprehension test. The results for the fluence test 50% of the readers read everything wrong, compared to just 19.5% who read just between 6 and 12 pseudo words. The average of the pseudo words read correctly per minute is 6. For the comprehension test, 60% of the sample had a grade below average (15/30), compared to 40% who obtained a score equal to or above the average. 32.5% (one third of learners) who failed to answer all the questions of comprehension of the text
