The effect of the demographic factors on the spread of chronic diseases among eldery people in Algeria based on Mics4

Abstract

Elderly people need certain forms of health care including strengthening their health, preventing them form diseases, and treating them form chronic diseases. That's why, Work must be done to create better living and environmental conditions that allow them to live a healthy life that  meets their  basic needs. The present study aims to identify the impact of demographic factors including age, gender, educational level, marital and individual status and wealth indicators on the spread of chronic diseases among the eldery in Algeria. Our study based on the data base of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (2012-2013). The research concluded that chronic diseases spread more among females them males and that as peaple go old, chronic diseases number increases. Besides, the higher educational level of these people, the lower the spread of chronic diseases among them. the study also showed that widows are the most vulnerable to chronic diseases and the singles are the least ones. In addition, wealth indicator affects. the spread of chronic diseases .i.e. chronic diseases increases more among the rich them among the poor. Moreover, chronic diseases spread more among the retired category and housewives compared with other categories
