The effectiveness of the cognitive-behavioral therapy program in reducing the psychological stress severity among mothers of children with motor disabilities of neurological origin.
Abstract
The study aims to identify the effectiveness of the cognitive-behavioral therapy program in reducing the psychological stress severity among mothers of children with motor disabilities of neurological origin, and evaluate as well as the extent of this effectiveness continuation two months later after finishing the treatment sessions.
The study sample consisted of (12) mothers of children with motor disabilities, who were divided into two equal groups, an experimental and a control group, consisted each of (6) mothers.
To achieve the aims of this study, we used the following tools: the psychological stress scale, the suggested treatment program, and the guided diagnostic interviewing. For the statistical methods, we adopted Mann-Whitney test, Wilcoxon test, K-squared test for Pearson (Q²), percentage, arithmetic mean and standard deviation.
The results of the study indicated the effectiveness of the suggested therapy program in reducing stress among mothers of the disabled children
