Abstract

This study examines the effect of chronic pain due to its part of seniority and intensity on the level of perceived stress, in population with chronic pain of non malign pathology.A sample of 52 patients suffering from chronic pain, they responded to questions of past pain and pain intensity and to Perceived Stress Scale “PSS-10 items”. A multiple linear regression analysis identified that seniority and intensity of pain are a significant predictors of the level of perceived stress, seniority of pain (β = 0,41, p < 0,01) and pain intensity (β = 0,29, p < 0,05). These results suggest that early psychological treatment for these patients seems necessary to improve medical care
