Abstract
The objective of this research is to specify the part of the cognitive factors or the role of the phonological awareness of the deaf child on the learning of reading, and to make a comparison between two types of deaf children, the deaf implanted and deaf paired, a sample of 62 children from Algiers allowed us to assess the level of phonological awareness about learning. The Analysis of the results tends to confirm the importance of phonological awareness in learning to read and the difference between the two types of deaf children, the paired deaf children and the deaf implanted, because the type of hearing aids an important role on learning.
