Abstract

For every action there are determinants and manifestations, the first have to do with motivations whereas the latter refer to the aspects and the ways by means of which actions are realized.  Put in these terms, political action is shown to have determinants, which consist in the relation between those who rule and those who are ruled, and manifestations as the space of the reactions resulting from such a relation regardless of whether these reactions are in conformity with the established authority or in opposition to it in the form of violence?  Thus characterized, the questions to be tackled are: why did the Arabic revolutions appeal to violence? How to promulgate rational discourse as an alternative to violence?

To deal with this issue we start first with a diagnosis of political violence in the Arabic revolutions and then proceed to present   E. Weil's interpretation of violence in order to make use of it in the benefit of our subject
