Abstract
The study examined the awareness of local tourists to take green tourism as a consumer In order to achieve the goals of this study, a questionnaire (a field survey form) was used to collect data from the selected study sample, which represents the demand side of green tourism. Through statistical data analysis, a set of results were reached, the most important of which is that there is ambiguity and confusion among probable green tourists relate to understanding of the concept of green tourism, the degree of awareness they have is not sufficient to become actual green tourists
