The Problem of Financing Higher Education in Algeria and Ways to Develop it, With Reference to International Experiences

Abstract

Financing university institutions, especially public ones in Algeria, is one of the most
important problems that the higher education sector knows. Therefore, this research paper
discusses various challenges to find various alternative sources of government funding in the
higher education sector in Algeria through a reading of the various financing methods used in a
group of countries, We concluded that there is a shift in the methods of financing higher education
institutions across the world from public financing to private financing for higher education, while
others are moving towards a gradual shift in adopting new and different systems and sources for
cost-sharing and meeting the increasing demand for higher education, and other new methods that
have been adopted to finance Institutions of higher education.
