Abstract

The modern research deals with the metonymy in the poetry of the Iraqi poet Abbas Shukr.
The research begins with a preface that is limited to talking about the poet's life in an intense and brief manner، followed by a definition of the metonymy in language and terminology، then the research begins by studying his poetry rhetorically and extracting the metonymy from it.
The research first dealt with the metaphor for the adjective، followed by the metonymy for the described، and then the metonymy for the ratio، followed by a conclusion that presented the most important results of the research، followed by a list of sources and references on which the research was built
