Abstract

This article investigates the goals of Amin Al-Kholys’ rhetorical project as well as its motivations and influential factors. The article argues that Al-Kholy’s project has been overwhelmingly affected by the academic and cultural contexts in the early decades of twentieth centuries. It studies the main goals of Al-Kholy’s project, particularly his endeavors to enhance the relation between rhetoric and society as well as his moves towards establishing an Egyptian local rhetoric. The article also tackles the most three influential factors on Al-Khloly’s projects; the Egyptian Nahda project, national ideology and western direct and indirect intellectual effects.
