Abstract

The study of the lexical level in the literary text, being poetry or prose, was limited to finding the dominant lexicon, categorizing it, relating it to its indication, its purpose or its intention based on stylistic approaches. It’s not sufficient to understand the characteristics of this level and its secrets inside the text
studied. This attempt is based on interpretation ; it studies what the linguistic structural acts allow for a reading as superficial data and does not penetrate to systemic mental operations that monitor the selection of lexicon and transform the awaited cognitive lexicon into linguistic units that have a syntacticsemantic
role inside the text. We have tried to propose a psych-cognitive approach, originally introduced by Willem Levelt, to understand the characteristics of the lexicon in the literary text, explain it, grasp the way it works in the mind of the producer, before it is put into linguistic structural acts that can be considered as a poetic
construct. In this paper, our focus will be geared towards two basic questions: How does the lexical
selection process happen and what entries can guide this act? What are the concepts that might be of
help to interpret the selection of a particular lexicon item to another that allow us to say we have a poetic
text
