Abstract

The addressee represents an active party in the process of communicating with the speaker, as the speaker formulates his speech in the light of the addressee's ability to be accepted and willing to listen, in order to achieve his basic goal of this communication process. And if rhetoric is concerned with the addressee in its cognitive orientation, then it is concerned with analyzing and studying daily discourses, so that the rhetorical lesson moves with it from its concern with “the rhetoric of the speaker” to "rhetoric" of Audience. This cognitive approach, which is concerned with studying the rhetorical responses that the audience produces while receiving an authoritarian discourse, enables it to dismantle this discourse and reproduce it with the pre-cognitive tools it possesses about the power and effectiveness of the discourse
