Summary, etc. The pistachio atlas (Pistacia atlantica Desf.) is a species of great ecological amplitude and remarkable plasticity. Used in pre-desert areas in reforestation in addressing against desertification and as animal feed. The present study is to present the microscopic characteristics of wood and leaf morphology of this species in a semi-arid area. The objective of this study is to present the microscopic characteristics of wood and leaf morphology of this species in a semi-arid area. The primary structure shows the arrangement of the protective tissue, supporting tissue and conductive tissue. The secondary structure of the wood of the Pistacia atlantica Desf. is characterized by an Average tangential vessel diameter of the initial wood of 83,33 μm. Average tangential diameter latewood vessels is 26,11μm.The average number of vessels per mm2 is 74.06. The average length of vessels is 451.25 microns and the fibers have an average length of 671,34μm. The morphology of mature leaves taken from 10 trees on the 4 exposures (N, S, E, W) shows that the species have higher values compared to vegetative pistachio studied in areas with difficult climatic conditions.
