Contribution of Cultural and Creative Industries to The Cameroonian Economy The Case of Cinema
Résumé
Cameroon is a country with a very rich and diverse cultural potential and its
heritage needs to be valued in front of the world. Thereby, the contribution and the
importance of the promotion of cultural and creative industries imply an ideal to be achieved,
that is the economic development through the valorisation of cultural potential. This finding
guides the analysis that will follow through the following questioning: what is the contribution
and the place of cultural and creative industries in the economy of Cameroon? David Throsby
(1994) theory of economy of culture, resumed by Benhamou Francoise (2017) will guide this
analysis and will lead us to the convincing results that will put the cultural sector at the
centre of the development of the economy of Cameroon. This article is therefore structured
in three main parts, the first part does the inventory of cultural and creative industries of
Cameroon; the second one analyses the capital gain of this sector for the national economy
and the third makes a state of the sector, between what is done, what should be done more,
possible solutions and significant difficulties that litter the perilous path to the promoter
universe and a clear improvement of life both symbolically, identity and socio-economically.
