Creative Writing An Act of Female Emergence on The Patriarchal Scene in the 20th And 21st Centuries

  • Halima BOUARI

Résumé

The aim of this paper is to expose the meaning of the act of writing for women who
dare to find a place in the literary and intellectual world which is so much reserved to men. Far
from being feminist and the specificity of female writing, its objective is to revisit feminine
literary creations from the East and the West in the 20th and 21st centuries to understand how
and why these women-writers and poets let their voices be heard, and what "writing" means to
them. This will be illustrated via the works of May Ziadé and Lait noir by Elif Shafak calling up
great female figures from Western literature.
